Starting couples therapy can feel scary and vulnerable. I will work to make the process is as comfortable as possible while attending to and validating issues of urgency.
I have worked with couples of wide ranging support needs and welcome your relationship story while helping guide you towards harmony.
My approach is understanding, direct and eclectic. My training is grounded in Gestalt Therapy, IFS and Psychologies of Liberation, allowing me to pull from various humanistic therapies to benefit the health of your relationship.
Common issues include:
In couples therapy, we begin by exploring the foundation of your relationship while gaining constructive communication skills to repair and deepen relational intimacy.
We will work towards understanding:
I work particularly well with people recovering from relational trauma or traumatic events. All therapy with me is trauma informed and I have a deep understanding of the need for safety when uncovering our biggest pains.
We will take it as slow as you need, and process what happened to you when it feels safe to do so.
Trauma can be anything that was too soon, too fast or too much. With this in mind, I take great care to build trust in our session so that you are not re-traumatized in your healing.
Common issues include:
I'm choosing to leave this list shorter, but please understand that whatever your trauma is I am equipped to support you. And, if for any reason I am unable to meet your needs I will help you find care.
I know trauma recovery is hard work and I know how important it is to recover with someone witnessing you. I have seen my clients transform while working through adversity and resistance. Your story is important and it can be yours to write.
I provide individual therapy services tailored to fit your needs, versus applying a "one size fits all" approach.
You are not alone in your challenges and you don't have to carry your burden by yourself.
I have had the honor of witnessing my clients building greater confidence and self-esteem, healthy relationships, emotional balance and vitality. I believe we all need someone to talk with and I take special care to facilitate dignity, build trust and collaborative skills.
Common issues include:
Individual therapy can be life changing work, and I encourage you to take care in deciding who is the right fit for you. I am a particularly good fit for teenagers and adults who are looking to deepening self-awareness by healing historical wounds. Please feel free to reach out with questions. If at any time, we decide we are not the best fit, I am always happy to provide referrals.
